Работать на благо всех нужно от рассвета и до заката, а иногда и за троих. Проходит совсем немного времени, чтобы сократить и изменить до неузнаваемости основные постулаты, ведь свиньям сложно их запомнить в первозданном виде. Да и жить слишком свободно и счастливо им тоже не под силу, поэтому на ферме процветает диктатура и самодурство властью облеченных. Прежние заповеди отменены и только одна становится новой правдой – все животные равны, но некоторые более равны, чем другие. По понятным причинам долгие годы «Скотный двор» был запрещен в СССР. Для остального же мира он стал эталоном сатирической прозы, литературно и идеологически безупречной. Между тем, Оруэлл специально сохранил простоту языка для облегчения перевода, в первую очередь, на русский язык. Один из 50 величайших британских писателей, автор «манифеста холодной войны» (романа «1984») – свой талант он использовал для обличения и нещадной критики тоталитаризма. Простое изложение сложных доктрин, политических и социальных концепций очень подкупает. Сатира является универсальным средством для того, чтобы просто говорить о сложном. Всегда интересно посмотреть на себя глазами других, особенно, если этот взгляд возведен в ранг канона. Исследование природы тоталитаризма, его самых мрачных сторон и последствий тема тонкая и деликатная. Тем важнее попытаться понять голос, идущий из самого сердца, и услышанный миллионами других людей.
