The pandemic that haunted our world over most of 2020 and into 2021, will change all our lives. The word coronavirus will become infamous. A once in a hundred year health disaster that has scarred and changed all our personal and social outcomes. These short poems, whilst not ignoring this reality, try to help people cope with this brutal change of normal practices. The scarring will not go away but it can be managed. Stay safe.

This is comparison of the Great Recession of 2008-12 with the pandemic global recession of 2020. The Global Financial Crisis can be seen to pale in comparison. The world now faces the most serious disruption to capitalism since the Great Depression (1929-39). Now many pundits are predicting an end to capitalism or rather a consumer driven capitalism. Some are sounding the death knell of consumerism. Some say we will have a government sheltered form of capitalism. Sort of like capitalism on steroids. Looking bigger better but just a bit strange. Others say we will move to the socialism seen in Europe. Others go further to suggest that a whole new economic system will arrive. I have no idea what will come out of the unprecedented (that is for this century) turmoil of 2020. But just maybe what happened during the GFC may give some clues. So I will explain just what did happen to cause world money markets to freeze up like some financial ice age. More importantly I will explain how concerted government intervention unfroze financial markets. Perhaps this will be our future after this pandemic is over.

I started writing poetry to honor my dead mother who loved poetry. Poetic verses grew inside my mind as I watered them with my own observations. By settling on writing only short poems I give time poor readers a chance to get a quick 'bite" of reality. This is why I call them 'fast poems'. In this time of global crisis our own emotions are exposed to great stress. My fast poems attempt to expose futile attempts to master stress but also to praise the brave ones.

This is a prequel to my first book SNIPERS! It tells a Christmas story about the birth of the youngest character in the first two books of the SNIPER series. There is a young woman, well young in Twenty-First Century terms, an older man but not too much older and a fractious family. The power figure appears to be the patriarch of this family. Abraham Feelgood is a hard man who is the richest man in Australia. He wants to marry off his eldest daughter Hera to increase his political influence. Hera has no intention of letting her father railroad her into marrying someone she does not love. Her secret ally is her mother. Mary Feelgood is not going to let her daughter be pressured into marrying anyone. She works behind the scenes to scuttle all of her husband's attempts at marrying off his daughter. Then Hera meets the man of her dreams at a dance. She falls in love with this dashing army officer. But her father finds out. He uses his considerable political influence to get this troublesome suitor sent on an overseas posting. His intent is obvious when that posting is to a combat zone. The two lovers must find a way to continue their romance whilst being separated most of the time.

This is the early years in a story about a most remarkable female. Peacemaker at birth she goes on to bind an extended family in times of enormous upheaval. There are many problems for Rosie to overcome. Her birth mother dies when she is two so this infant is raised by her grandmothers. Her two brother fight continually with Rosie often having to seperate them. Once Rosie goes to school she is targeted by trolls. Then she has to watch her best friend attempt suicide. \\\but everything works out when Rosie gets a new mother. Then she can focus on her academic future.
