Er sammelte ähnlich wie die Brüder Grimm die Volksmärchen und -sagen der gesamten Region rund um Granada und brachte sie zu Papier. Damit trug er wesentlich zum Erhalt der Alhambra bei. Die Geschichten sind spannend und märchenhaft. Oft erinnern sie an Geschichten aus 1001 Nacht. Lesenswert für Andalusien-Reisende, Freunde der arabischen Kultur und alle, die gerne Reiseberichte aus vergangener Zeit lesen.
