Starting from both our originary experience of being given to ourselves and Jesus Christ's archetypal self-donation, Gift and the Unity of Being elucidates the sense in which gift is the form of being's unity, while unity itself constitutes the permanence of the gift of being. In dialogue with ancient and modern philosophers and theologians, Lopez offers a synthetic, rather than systematic, account of the unity proper to being, the human person, God, and the relations among them. The book shows how contemplation of the triune God of Love through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit allows us to discover the eternal communion that being is and to which finite being is called. It also illustrates the sense in which God's gratuitousness unexpectedly offers the human person the possibility to recognize and embrace his origin and destiny, and thus he is given to see and taste in God's light the ever-fruitful, dramatic, and mysterious positivity of being.

The short pieces assembled in Salvation in My Pocket are miniature experiments in Christian joy. They are attempts at describing the difference God makes to ordinary experience, and to discover glimpses of God's light in everyday life. If there is any thread that holds these haphazard reflections together, it is just the conviction that beneath the surface of things there lurks an invitation, gentle and alluring; that even in sadness and misfortune there is always rising up, as if from hidden wells, the promise of peace; and that the final word spoken over this world, and over each human life, will be a word of joy.

In the summer of Molly's fifteenth year, a speedboat landed on her head. She suffered a horrendously severe brain injury and experienced a miraculous and unprecedented survival. She woke up to the realization that she had to relearn everything, and she had the next three tenuous, painful years to figure out how far she would recover. That was high school. During those three years, she would have given anything to talk to someone who had undergone a similar recovery and who had come out the other side. This book is the story that she wanted to read. This is how it feels to recover.

It's C. S. Lewis (The Screwtape Letters) meets Christopher Moore (Lamb) in this quirky fable about human aspirations and the nature of temptation.
Timothy McFarland is a failed theology student turned gift book writer. His 101 Good Things about Christmas has sold millions. But Timothy finds that his success has changed nothing; in fact, he seems more stuck in his life than ever. Wanting to be more than a rich hack, he is confronted by Lucifer, a Wagner-loving devil who offers to mold Timothy into a serious writer by teaching him to take a colder look at life.
And it works. Timothy is published in the right literary and commercial venues, and there's talk of The Great American Novel. Along the way, Timothy and the devil are having a grand time, talking religion, catching bad Elvis impersonators at the casinos, and watching devil-cam, Lucifer's ultimate home video network. But there's a final step Timothy must take. Can he write coolly about a tragedy that unfolds before his eyes, as the devil urges? Will he take on the full weight of the devil's writing gift and make it his own? All he has to do is change who he really is.

Author Karen Barnstable wanted to leave her family with a journal and legacy of her significant life events, experiences and memories showing how in retrospect God had walked her through every life situation. This exercise of personal reflection and journaling led to the development of a unique process that will help others look at what God has done and is doing in each of our own lives.
For those who have been thinking about capturing their life experiences on paper, or writing their significant life memories this process will allow them to organize their reflections and leave a legacy of life stories and reflections of meaning for others to profit by. It will also bring new understanding about the purpose and plan for their life. As Karen began the process of her writing, she discovered new clarification of how her life all fit together. She notes,” I saw with a fresh perspective, how the silver threads of God had designed a purpose and plan for me in everything. I could see with clearer vision how God had been near to me in every life situation.” These 29 chapters of Seeking Silver: In Every Life Experience start with Karen’s own personal stories, prayers and penetrating questions which will guide the reader to their own meaningful reflections. Readers will revisit and reframe life experiences using the four dimensions of reflection Karen devised—thinking back, inward, outward, and finally forward. It is Karen’s hope that the processes outlined in this book will guide readers to reflect on the significant events or seasons in their own life and inspire readers to begin writing and reflecting on their own life stories. A great catalyst for many more legacies of faith.

Today, the issue of Muslim women is held hostage between two perceptions: a conservative Islamic approach and a liberal Western approach. At the heart of this debate Muslim women are seeking to reclaim their right to speak in order to re-appropriate their own destinies, calling for the equality and liberation that is at the heart of the Qur'an. However, with few female commentators on the meaning of the Qur'an and an overreliance on the readings of the Qur'an compiled centuries ago this message is often lost. In this book Asma Lamrabet demands a rereading of the Qur'an by women that focuses on its spiritual and humanistic messages in order to alter the lived reality on the ground. By acknowledging the oppression of women, to different degrees, in social systems organized in the name of religion and also rejecting a perspective that seeks to promote Western values as the only means of liberating them, the author is able to define a new way. One in which their refusal to remain silent is an act of devotion and their demand for reform will lead to liberation. Asma Lamarbet is a pathologist in Avicenna Hospital, Rabat, Morocco. She is also an award-winning author of many articles and books tackling Islam and women's issues. Myriam Francois-Cerrah is a writer and broadcaster whose articles have been published in the Guardian, Salon, and elsewhere.
