Five people, representing three generations, meet to share some of their deepest thoughts. Luc and Don get together after thirty years, with their one-time mentor, Jay, and are later joined by Luc's daughter and her friend Ian.
Their dialogues, patterned roughly after Plato, start with Jay asking if death is just the end of life, or if there is more. Does science have an answer? Is there a soul or spirit, a reality that transcends the reality of our scientific universe of space and time? Or is an existence beyond this world and life just the indulgence of imaginative conjecture? Through the conversations of these friends, the dialogues provide an affirmation of life, of what it means to be a person, and of an afterlife beyond the boundaries of space and time.
The book's intent is to stimulate thoughtful reflection and discussion, while not advocating for any particular philosophical or religious position.

The Window Song is a collection of original proverbs that looks to continue that classic form in its search for wisdom and spirituality. Breaking through the confinements of religion, these proverbs express a unique spiritual outlook in a simple poetic form. Many themes such as love, faith, fear, nature, vision, and death are explored in depth. Each chapter has a corresponding photo that illustrates and adds meaning to each theme. Together these words and images will stimulate thought on how these issues affect all our lives.

What you are about to read comes from the heart of the Apostle Paul, that great missionary theologian of the first century AD. It is remarkable that our understanding of the Christian faith rests primarily on thirteen letters written by a convert from rabbinic Judaism. No other set of ancient manuscripts has made such a dramatic impact on civilization over the past two millennia. Written to various churches in what we now call Asia Minor, they reveal the unique way in which God allowed the truth of the cross and the open grave to take root in a hostile environment. Paul wrote in simple Greek and this new and vibrant translation stresses what the apostle intended to communicate rather than the specific words he used to accomplish the goal. Readable and free from ambiguity, it presents the ancient letters in a new and powerful way. You the reader will become, as it were, one of the original recipients, so prepare to listen to the once zealous adherent of Judaism who, by a dramatic encounter with the Christ he was persecuting, became the major figure in the westward expansion of Christianity.

Pre-civilization, the Egyptian Empire, the Hittite Empire, the Phoenician Empire, the Persian Empire, the Roman Empire–all of these civilizations enter into the pages of the Bible. These six stories, written as if they happened in each of these civilizations, explore the faith and happenings of the Bible and seek to bring them into familiarity. How did the hearts of men operate thousands of years ago? What were the central images and parables used to proclaim truths about the invisible divine? What was the arc of the history of the waiting for the day of redemption like? Jesus said that there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, but the prophet was sent as a missionary to a Gentile, and not a widow of Israel. The many missions to the Gentiles in the Old Testament times are the central theme of this book. «And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory» (Isaiah 66:19).

In addition to being entertaining, these poems pose questions for Christians, whether new converts or seasoned believers. In many cases they can function as a checklist for the depth of one's faith.

The ancient rhythm of night becoming day becoming night again has always set the tempo of our everyday lives. The daily spin and tilt of the Earth rules our clocks and calendars as well as our human bodies. Yet our minutes and hours and days all too often slip away completely unnoticed. For generations and cultures around the globe and across the ages, though, the moments surrounding sunrise and sunset have been noticeable exceptions: believers and seekers have long gathered in the gloaming to pause and reflect on the notion that the sacred unfolds, if it unfolds anywhere, in ordinary time. In Time, Twilight, and Eternity, Thom Rock explores the rich tradition of that unfolding, not only through the physics and optics of any twilight hour or rising or setting sun, but also through the whispered prayers of so many faith traditions. An unforgettable journey through the mysteries and wonders of dusk and dawn–as well as the extraordinary gifts of common prayer, ordinary time, and everyday grace–this poetic and evocative work is ultimately about our own rising and setting . . . and rising again; the daily practice of resurrection and fully inhabiting our lives here and now.

Marriage is the most demanding and potentially rewarding relationship for many adults. Learning to navigate its challenges can be difficult. Staying One is a practical guide that not only teaches the spiritual what and why of marriage but also provides advice and practice in the how. Intended to save readers from the pain of learning the hard way, it illustrates and explains biblically sound approaches to building a healthy and fulfilling marriage that lasts. These include things married people should and shouldn't say to each other. Staying One will prove useful to pastors in their pre-marital counseling and to the couples they are ministering. It will serve as powerful source material for marriage enrichment workshops, retreats focused on marriage, and church-based growth groups and adult education classes. The book will prove of special interest to engaged couples, newlyweds, those wanting to revitalize their marriages, and married people on the brink of divorce. A key feature is that each chapter concludes with a response from the author's wife, reflecting a woman's point of view. We also offer a Workbook for use in completing the twenty hands-on activities contained in Staying One, as well as a comprehensive Leader's Guide for those facilitating workshops based on the book.

This book about religious struggle studies four texts from postexilic Judah and applies them first to Judah and then, importantly, to modern America. Two of these texts–the books of Jonah and Job–speak out in favor of the theology of grace and against the theology of retribution, as advocated by the Jerusalem hardliners. This struggle to define God continues even today. Despite the biblical evidence–especially the example of Jesus–many Americans still believe in the God of retribution. Two other texts–the book of Ruth and the story of Rahab–demonstrate that if people reject xenophobia/nativism and misogyny, the entire community is blessed. Since xenophobia/nativism and misogyny are rampant in modern America, this message is rather timely. The last chapter argues that it is the mission of both synagogues and churches to define God correctly and then to help people overcome their resentment and prejudices and become partners with God, but that many predominantly white churches have failed in their mission, as evidenced by the fact that so many of their members voted for Donald Trump.
