This edition present the history of the «Golden Age» of piracy. In this period the entire regions and islands in the Caribbean Sea were under their control and rule, at the extent that they subsequently proclaimed Nassau as the seat of the pirate republic. Authors' goal was to show the democracy pirates established, the rules by which they lived and died, their courage and ruthlessness, their most extraordinary exploits and battles. The Analects of Confucius, is an ancient Chinese book composed of a large collection of sayings and ideas attributed to the Chinese philosopher Confucius and his contemporaries, traditionally believed to have been compiled and written by Confucius's followers. The I Ching, usually translated as Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese divination text and among the oldest of the Chinese classics. Originally a divination manual in the Western Zhou period (1000–750 BC), over the course of the Warring States period and early imperial period (500–200 BC) it was transformed into a cosmological text with a series of philosophical commentaries known as the «Ten Wings». The I Ching is used in a type of divination called cleromancy, which uses apparently random numbers. Six numbers between 6 and 9 are turned into a hexagram, which can then be looked up in the text, in which hexagrams are arranged in an order known as the King Wen sequence. The interpretation of the readings found in the I Ching is a matter which has been endlessly discussed and debated over in the centuries following its compilation, and many commentators have used the book symbolically, often to provide guidance for moral decision making as informed by Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.

The Most Ancient Lives of Saint Patrick is a work compiled by Irish cleric James O'Leary. Saint Patrick was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the «Apostle of Ireland», he is the primary patron saint of Ireland. The work is compiled with three main objectives in mind. First goal is to present the life of Saint Patrick, avoiding some irrelevant matter and not concerning with the history of the national church which he founded. Second goal was to show his character and his life as it is written in the most ancient original documents, without the influence of later historians who wrote about him. History of the Russian Cmpaign, Undertaken by the Emperor Napoleon in the Year 1812 is a historical account of the French invasion of Russia, written by French general and a historian Count Philip de Segur. The French invasion of Russia of 1812 was begun by Napoleon to force Russia back into the Continental blockade of the United Kingdom. On 24 June 1812 and the following days, the first wave of the multinational Grande Armée crossed the border into Russia with somewhere around 600,000 soldiers, the opposing Russian field forces amounted to around 180,000–200,000 at this time. Through a series of long forced marches, Napoleon pushed his army rapidly through Western Russia in a futile attempt to destroy the retreating Russian Army of Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly, winning just the Battle of Smolensk in August. Under its new Commander in Chief Mikhail Kutuzov, the Russian Army continued to retreat employing attrition warfare against Napoleon forcing the invaders to rely on a supply system that was incapable of feeding their large army in the field. The fierce Battle of Borodino, seventy miles west of Moscow, was a narrow French victory that resulted in a Russian general withdrawal to the south of Moscow near Kaluga. On 14 September, Napoleon and his army of about 100,000 men occupied Moscow, only to find it abandoned, and the city was soon ablaze. Napoleon stayed in Moscow for 5 weeks, waiting for a peace offer that never came. Lack of food for the men and fodder for the horses, hypothermia from the bitter cold and guerilla warfare from Russian peasants and Cossacks led to great losses. Three days after the Battle of Berezina, only around 10,000 soldiers of the main army remained. On 5 December, Napoleon left the army and returned to Paris.

In October 1888, the Welsh-American explorer Henry Stanley started his African expedition to rescue the colonial governor Emin Pasha, whose colony in Eastern Sudan was burning with a revolt. Stanley's expedition was tired, and in search of food, he sent a couple of his team members to the closest village. They came back with a couple of locals, which sight was different from other African tribes. That was one of the first encounters with pigmees, an ancient African known from Homer's Illiad.
