En historisk organiseret fremstilling af de kinesiske religioner, fra oldtid til i dag, sAettes ind i en storre sammenhAeng af kosmologi, livsanskuelse og tAenkning, for bedre at kunne rumme den kinesiske kulturs egne fundamentale kategorier og kompleksitet.Med afsAet i en prAesentation af kinesisk kosmologi og arkaisk religion giver bogen en grundig fremstilling af de tre store skoler i den kinesiske kulturs historie: kongfuzianisme, daoisme (taoisme) og buddhisme.
