to remember that (Stevens, John Robert: This Week, Volume IX (1978 p.121).

We see later that even the flood did not kill all the Nephilim because they appear again as Joshua was conquering the Promised Land (Numbers 13:33). They were called the sons of Anak. The spies Moses sent discovered them: “So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, at Lebo-hamath. When they had gone up into the Negev, they came to Hebron where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak were” (Nu 13:21-22). Goliath was of the tribe of Gath, also an offspring of the Nephilim (giants) (1 Sam 17).

“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. And the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD” (Gen 6:1-8).

      .

Satanic influence after the flood came forth from one of the sons of Noah, Ham. “Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard. And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father’s nakedness. When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him. So he said, “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers.” He also said, “Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem; And let “May God enlarge Japheth And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.” And Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood. So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died” (Ge 9:20–29). So Noah cursed Ham and his son Canaan which would have a lasting effect on Israel.

From Ham and Canaan’s descendants came satanic offspring nations that harassed Israel throughout their existence. “The sons of Ham [one of Noah’s sons] were Cush and Mizraim and Put and Canaan… Cush became the father of wicked Nimrod who became a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord” (Ge 6; 1…8-9). And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel [which evolved into Babylon]… in the land of Shinar. Nimrod was a satanic figure, the founder of the church of mystery Babylon [Revelation 17-18] and a part of the building of the Tower of Babel. He was known as a great hunter, as he was a hunter of souls to seduce to become a part of the Mystery Babylon religion, condemned in Revelation 17-18.

“From that land Nimrod, son of Cush, went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-Ir and Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city [all wicked pagan sites] And Mizraim became the father of Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim and Pathrusim and Casluhim (from which came the Philistines) and Caphtorim” And Canaan became the father of Sidon, his first-born, and Heth and the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite and the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were spread abroad. And the territory of the Canaanite extended from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; as you go toward Sodom and Gomorrah” (Gen 10:15-19). As we know the Canaanites inhabited the entire area of Palestine, future home of Israel—the Promised Land. These satanic, polytheistic nations, were defeated by Joshua and Israel inhabited the land. The Canaanites they defeated were descended from Canaan, son of Ham.

The Tower of Babel: Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words. And it came about as they [Nimrod etc] journeyed east, and they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name; lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth” (Gen 11:1-9). Babel means Babylon in Hebrew so this point was the beginning of the mystery Babylon religion. Once humankind spoke one language, but when people settled in Shinar (understood by most modern scholars as Sumer), “they purposed to make bricks and building materials and build a city and tower ‘with its top in the heavens, and…make a name for [themselves], lest [they] be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth” (Gen. 11:4).

In their anger at God for sending the flood they began building a high tower, the tower of Babel. Nimrod, among other things, was a high priest of the religion of Babylon. They proposed to build the tower high enough so that God could not flood them again. And they wanted a place like the men of renown from before the flood. They wanted to make a name for themselves. They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” The tower was man’s futile attempt to reach God by their own works. They thought they could build it high enough to reach heaven. The men were afraid of another flood that they could escape if they built the tower high above the waters. They were angry at God for the first flood and this motivated them to reach God (The History of Babylon, Kenneth B. Alexander from Science and God).

The Plain of Shinar, (shīʹnahr) was a district of Babylonia in southern Iraq. According to Gen. 10:10, the Plain of Shinar included Babel (Babylon), Erech (Warka), and Accad or Akkadia in central Mesopotamia close to Baghdad. The Tower of Babel is said to have been built in ‘a plain in the land of Shinar’ (Gen. 11:2). ‘Amraphel king of Shinar’ was one of the four kings who, according to Genesis 14, invaded the Dead Sea region, kidnapped Lot, and were subsequently pursued and defeated by Abraham at ‘Horbah, north of Damascus’ (Gen. 14:1-16). One of these kings was Amraphel, king of Shinar, who is known to us as Hammurabi. Hammurabi was the first one to codify the Babylonian law and was the most famous of the early Babylonian kings, but God anointed Abraham to come against him and his allies and to prevail over them.

From the line of Shem, came Abraham. Third generation Terah became the father of Abraham. Haran, Abraham’s brother became father of Lot. Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans. And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah. And Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans in order to enter the land of Canaan; and they went as far as Haran, and settled there. (Gen 11:10-11, 24-32).

So after the flood. Noah’s sons populated the world but deceit was found within the heart of Ham and Cannon. Satan had slipped through the flood that was supposed to destroy all evil in the world. Through the line of Ham came the pagan nations of the world that were to inhabit Mesopotamia and other parts of the world.

God determined to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, built near the Dead Sea. An angel came and warned Lot and his family but they were reluctant to leave. The evil atmosphere of Sodom had influenced their dedication to God. But Lot, his wife and daughters finally fled Sodom. The Lord rained fire and brimstone upon the cities including Zoar. Current archeological information hints that Chinese astronomers recorded a meteor hit the earth far north of the cities but the fallout (hot embers,
