whose share price has moved furthest on the back of the announcement are featured prominently at the top of the page and the other announcements are grouped into sectors so you can check any sector you are particularly interested in.

      Past announcements for each quoted company are available free through the search facility but you need to know the stock exchange code for each stock.

      MoneyAM

      MoneyAM (www.moneyam.com) has about a dozen of the day’s announcements on its news page. For all the past month’s announcements, click on All Articles. It is possible to go further back chronologically or call up announcements from individual companies or specific types of announcements on the search facility. This service is free.

      Digital Look

      Digital Look (www.digitallook.com) has a company announcements page and a facility to call up previous announcements from individual companies.

      Other sites

      The London Stock Exchange website (www.londonstockexchange.com) is not particularly useful for finding the current day’s announcements as only a limited number of the most recent ones are shown.

      The most useful research facility on the LSE site is the comprehensive company reports giving a five-year overview of each quoted company’s strengths, weaknesses and financial trends.

      If you use an online broker it may be useful to use its news pages. For instance, Selftrade (selftrade.co.uk) carries RNS announcements within its Market News section.
