Traditional Scottish liveries have long featured combinations of tartans, thistles, stags, piper and monograms on a strong background colour.Bonnie Scottish Trucks brings together 231 high quality photos of trucks operated by past and present Scottish companies, small firms and owner drivers who have used their vehicles as a means of attracting the eye of potential customers and as a matter of pride in the presentation of their business. To emphasise the ownership and purpose of the vehicle, the user's name is emblazoned on the front and sides in shade lettering leaving the onlooker in no doubt. Although not exclusive to Scotland, this treatment seems to have been more prolific and has stood the test of time in Scotland. The beautiful vehicles featured in this book were spotted by author, Bill Reid around the country, in towns, in cattle markets, on the road, and anywhere else trucks or lorries can be found. This striking collection will appeal to drivers, road transport enthusiasts and in particular those with an interest in vintage commercial vehicles.

Every year on the first Sunday in August, hundreds gather to see one of the greatest displays of historic commercial vehicles. First organised in 1969, the Trans Pennine Run attracts an annual entry of around 200 vehicles coming from all over the UK.The event starts at Birch Services on the M62 at Manchester at about 7.30 in the morning and runs for 64 miles via Rochdale, Halifax and Bradford, taking in some of the finest Yorkshire scenery along the way. From 11.30 the vehicles start arriving at the famous Harrogate Stray where they are then displayed to the public.Avid photographer, Roy Dodsworth has been following the event since the late 1990s and has a collection of over 3000 images taken there. This book collects together 262 of Roy's favourite truck photos, including a bit of history about each of the vehicles – many of which have been restored to their original livery. The Trucks of the Trans Pennine Run is a must-have for any driver who has ever participated in the run. Current and former truckers and anyone else with an interest in transport history will all enjoy being reminded of these beautiful old vehicles.

The pace at which technology progresses within the motor industry can be incredibly fast. What may have seemed an almost insurmountable problem in the late 80s and early 90s and therefore a major achievement when resolved, would now seem a minor inconvenience due to the advances made in component technology. Aston Martin Engine Development thoroughly details the design and development of Aston Martin engines including the 580X Vantage, the Virage, and the V8 Coupe. In particular it focusses on the twin supercharged 32 valve Vantage engine – an engine which set new standards, being the most powerful production car engine in the world at the time of its release in 1992. Illustrated with photographs from that time and including power and torque curves, this book provides a unique look into a period of Aston's history, written by one of the key men involved in making it happen. It gives an insight into life at the AM factory at Newport Pagnell; an understanding of the benefits of Supercharging at the time of manufacture; and a historic record of engine design, development and production that would otherwise have been lost to time.Aston Martin Engine Development will appeal to Aston Martin owners and enthusiasts and to anyone else with an interest in engines and high-performance cars.
